Scuba Gear
Scuba diving is a wonderful and amazing journey that will show you the hidden underwater environment that is so different from what we experience on the surface everyday. Because of the dangers and perils that lurk when diving beneath the serene looking waters you must equip yourself properly in both mind and gear. Scuba diving is an exhilarating sport that will require not only proper education but also the proper equipment to have a successful, safe and enjoyable dive. Scuba diving gear can be obtained in two different ways; most dive shops will allow you to rent the equipment and this is a great way to go especially for your first dive or if you are only going to be diving occasionally while on vacation. You can also choose to purchase your scuba gear at many different shops either in person or on line.
The list of scuba gear can seem to go on and on, especially once you start to explore the things you want to have versus the things you must have in order to be safe in the water. Some of the scuba gear you absolutely must have includes a mask, snorkel, fins, wetsuit, booties, gloves, hood, weights and weight belt, air tank, safety kit or first aid kit, regulator and alternate or secondary regulator, alternate air source, dive light, dive flag and a buoyancy compensator device (BCD). Other items of scuba gear that you may feel are necessary are a good gear bag, underwater camera, dive watch, dive knife and a dive computer. All of these things are going to be either helpful or essential to your diving experience and safety.
There are other non essential items you should consider taking along with you on any dive as well. These may be items that a beginning scuba diver may not consider as most of the above listed items will usually be provided by the dive shop on your first scuba diving experience. Some of these comfort items would include a dry towel and warm clothing for after your dive, sunscreen, water, healthy snacks and a reasonable amount of cash for tipping the boat captain when your voyage is complete. These are the items you will want most once you have returned to the surface and completed your dive. Many of them will make the end of your trip much more enjoyable and comfortable as you will be able to relax and enjoy the ride back to land.
