Scuba Diving
Scuba diving is a fun, exhilarating, adventurous sport that will lead you to discover the environment like you never have before; underwater. Scuba diving is done all over the world from Bali to the Caribbean to the Hawaiian Islands, you can even scuba dive inland in many countries. Many inland scuba diving locations are at lakes and large rivers where there is an abundance of wildlife or staged ship wrecks to explore. However scuba diving is most often experienced in the ocean from shore dives or through open water dives. On these types of dives you can elect to experience anything from wildlife that can include exotic fish, turtles, octopus, sharks, dolphins and even whales. The guarantee of live animals is not 100% however if you find a reputable scuba guide or diving location there is a 99% chance you will experience some or all of the above.
Other scuba diving adventures will take you to sunken ships that are fun to explore and discover the history that is awaiting you on the floor of the ocean. Cave diving is also a very popular scuba diving sport, although it is the most dangerous type of dive in scuba diving it can be a great adventure and with the proper education and certification you can stay safe. Cave diving and ship wreck diving are penetration dives that require a certain amount of certification and are wonderful experiences. Although if you want to start small there is always the option of taking a quick couple of classes at many hotels and scuba diving resorts where you can be guided through a 30 foot dive. These smaller dives are generally off shore dives and will not disappoint you as they offer and abundance of wild life and beautiful reefs to view.
Scuba diving is a great sport that is flexible in the way that you can make it a full time hobby, jetting off to far away lands to explore the underwater treasures, or you can fit it into a week in Hawaii by taking an offered class and plunging into 30 feet of beauty and amazing wild life. Scuba diving certification is generally offered in adult classes for those 15 and older and junior classes for those 10 to 15. Children younger than 10 are usually not offered classes at most hotels, resorts or associations simply because of the dangers involved. Scuba diving is a great sport for most families and couples, if you have younger children keep in mind many hotels offer child care for daytime hours and you can still get your dream scuba in!
